Frequently asked questions
How much does translation cost?
Translation costs vary depending on the length of the text and the complexity of the subject, normally it is charged per word. However, for website localisation, marketing, and other creative content, the rate is charged per hour or project. Because sometimes you don’t need to translate everything, I offer very flexible rates and tailored service.

How long does a translation take?
It will depend on the length and how complex the subject is. Your text will be revised and proofread, so we need to factor in that time. For example, 1,000 words can be translated and proofread between one day or two days, however, if it is a specialised subject, it might take longer to produce the translation. Don’t forget that we revise it, and proofread it to ensure the best quality. A small website of around, 10,000 words can be translated fairly quickly, but again, every website is different and will require a tailored service.
Do I need to translate the entire content?
Description of your services, hotel facilities, product details, blog articles, etc., will help your customer engage more with your business, and will understand what you are offering. Depending on your website and what you are offering, it is not necessary to translate all the content. We can talk about it at our first meeting and decide which web pages will be best to translate first. However, for the best customer service, I would recommend that the home page, services/product/rooms pages, and booking system or check-out process be localised. I often see websites that are half translated with some elements on the menu bar in the target language, but the rest of the content is in English.
Do I need to use someone who speaks the native language fluently?
The answer is YES. You must hire a professional translator who is a native speaker of the target language. The translator should have had language background studies and been trained as a translator. Also, it is important that when choosing a translator, he/ she is a member of a translators’ association of the target language or an affiliate of the ITI or CIOL. This gives you peace of mind, as these translators are committed to their profession, have graduate studies in languages or translation, and/or are studying postgraduate diplomas, like in my case. Also, these organisations offer all year around training and webinars for the continuous professional development of their members.
As an affiliate member of the Chartered Institute of Linguists, I am committed to keeping my skills updated and gaining further education training in translation related courses. In addition to this, I collaborate with other professional linguists and highly qualified translators to provide the best quality on your translations.
Can you help me with keyword research?
Definitely. If you have used a translation plugin or used machine translation on your content, it is most likely that the keywords would sound too literal, or the meaning is not accurate. This could affect the traffic of your website. You need the keywords, links, titles, and meta descriptions localised. What is working well on your English website may not work in another language. I use different tools that will help me find the right keywords for your Spanish website. I will put myself in your client’s shoes and think like a Spanish buyer.
How do I improve my translated content?
I will carefully read the content and highlight any possible changes that will improve the readability of your Spanish website. I collaborate with other professional translators, together we will ensure that your website keeps the tone of the original, has the right register, and sounds natural to the reader, without affecting your style and meaning.
Can you help with regular content updates?
Absolutely. Together, we can tailor a plan that suits you best. For example, a monthly follow-up plan can be useful to monitor your keyword ranking and to help translate any updates you have on your website.
Speak to me about your project and how often you upload new content, and we will take it from there.
